I've tested a couple of distros on virtual machines but I probably won't replace Windows for my main computer (too much important shit on there). I do plan on getting a laptop and installing linux on it though, still undecided on the distro.

I have W7 on my W500 and it works much better than W11 in every single possible way. It's not like you're instantly gonna get raped if you access the Internet on these OSes, maybe only if you're using something like XP SP1 where they hadn't introduced a native firewall to Windows yet.
