/ros/ - ReactOS General

General thread
I want the experts of this thread to explain why bother with ReactOS or LiberNT in the first place though. What does NT do better than current open source alternatives like BSD or Linux to warrant making an open source version of NT
Other than running Windows binaries natively I mean

Developed cleanly and cohesively with the desktop in mind. Thus, working better at that goal. No nonsense, just a stable package for the end-user to build upon. Desktop BSD / GNU+Linux is built on the backs of dysfunctional hobbyists and corporations, all with juxtaposing ideals, and it shows. Everything on desktop GNU+Linux has a flurry of under-baked (Cosmic), buggy (KrashDE), deprecated (most xorg DE/WMs in general pre-2010) projects all of which having their own respective issues behind the scenes with drama, misdirected resources, feature-creep and so on and so forth. Beyond XFCE, I don't think there's a single DE without major drama. Qt vs GTK. Flatpak vs AppImage. Pulseaudio vs Pipewire vs ALSA. I could go on and on with software, Rust, Wayland, SystemD etc etc.

Despite all this, those recent AI ports of Windows shells to GNU+Linux seem neat. "WinforWine" I think?

Not to mention how messy of a foundation UNIX is.

Using AI to reverse engineer Windows is the best possible way of using AI
ai being so good at reverse engineering may seem cool but its BAD. its really fucking bad. Today AI reverse engineers games, OSes. Tomorrow it'll reverse engineer bank systems. Military equipment.

They reap what they sow. AI was so forced and they thought they were the only ones who could abuse it. Suddenly, when it's their shit being raped, they change their stance on AI? [tsnoob]

i predict that major corporations are going to be against ai very very soon. They forced it down our throats and it advanced enough to literally become a weapon. fuck these noobs bro

Might try using a thumbdrive to install. Same error, AMD64 support on real hardware is still junk.
im dummyed, is reactOS shite because of higher-level components being a mess (idk win32 o algo) or is it tied to the kernel too? because while windows has changed a lot on the user-facing side, i swear MS hasn't messed with low-level NT plumbing significantly since vista. main thing being the alder lake scheduler in w11.
