Opinion on FFmpeg?

It's pretty good. It is a video-player (ffplay [PATH TO VIDEO]), metadata viewer (ffprobe [PATH TO VIDEO]), and media modifier, all in one!
It's pretty much the backbone of videos on the web. If you're a programmer and you don't know about FFmpeg, you know diddly! You know nothing!

I have very little knowledge of it, but I remember it made some jeets at Microsoft chimp out because the people working on it were too slow/reluctant to implement some change they relied on. For that it's keyed in my book
