Soychiver is the most unscalable piece of software ever. It doesn't interact with a database at all.
Whenever you archive a thread, it downloads the thread's HTML file then injects some JS and CSS into it, and then saves it to archives/.
The thread list worked by scanning the archives/ directory for {board}_{id}_{no}.html, and then parsing that into a table, on every refresh.
The image gallery was like that but even worse, taking about 10 seconds to load the first page of images.
Also, I can't code well, so the software itself was ropey.

like for me I write out the thread in my notebook and then I start looking at it for around 1 and a half hour before turning on all of my alarms to wake me up to lucid dream
