Just thinking, what would the best way of archiving this website? If it's easy enough, I wouldn't be against writing a snapshot of the site as it stands now onto some DVDs I have lying around.

if it's cloudflared or anti-ddos shit use singlefile with gopher link and then extract all links with gopher link and then copy all those links relating to the site into singlefile's idfk what it's called and then it will open all those tabs at once in your browser and download then, albeit I've only used this with imageboard catalogs and if it's rate-limiting your gonna only be able to archive a quarter of it like the sharty has started doing since november I think.

>Sit there for fifteen minutes wondering why HTTrack is so slow.
>Ask AI why it's slow
<"Adjust connection settings"
>I had the maximum connections per second set to 0.00017

The final count is coming in at 952 threads partially archived with all attachments intact. 13% of the threads currently hosted on this forum. Some threads are missing a handful of pages but I'm happy enough with what I have currently.

Made a copy of the initial copy, trimmed down the largest folder (/data/video/) and wiped the HttTrack cache and burnt the remainder onto a disc. It's pretty amusing browsing this site with corresponding whirring and clicking from a DVD reader/writer.

[Idkchud]

it feels uncanny to know 99% of these were done by me

[Idkchud]

I've decided to archive library.frenschan.org as it is closing down this month

Is tape storage for archival a meme or does it actually hold benefits over other storage formats?
