there are some documentaries about the beta but they're all longer. either way it's still about gordon being sent into the future to save the world from the combine, but pre-2003 it was much more in line with half life 1

I liked the betas lore more it’s more interesting for the combine soldiers to not be mind controlled and the fact the occupation was going to be a permanent totalitarian regime instead of all the humans just dying of age because they can’t reproduce.

Just beat Episode 1, it wasn’t horrible but it felt like pure filler for something more interesting. Also the final fight of escorting the civilians to the train was boring as fuck
